Celebrate a Wonderful Sporting Summer with Team GB at London Victory Parade

What a wonderful sporting summer it has been in the UK, we have been truly spoilt with sporting excitement, drama and moments to fill you with pride.

The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics have been simply AWESOME.  Not only for the outstanding performances, but for the Gamesmakers, the organisers, the crowds and the general buzz across the UK. We are hugely proud to be British and, as Lord Sebastian Coe said, London 2012 was ‘Made in Britain’.

Last night’s closing ceremony of the Paralympics was, as we have come to expect now, a polished entertaining spectacle that perfectly captured the mood and a firework ending that was jaw-dropping.

Sadly though the Closing Ceremony not only saw the end of the Paralympic Games but also the end of this wonderful summer of sport and I for one feel just a little deflated and sad this morning.  Britain being the centre of the World’s attention is something we have got to quite like!

However there is one last chance to look back and celebrate this wonderful summer of sports with all our sporting heroes in Team GB at today’s London Team GB Victory Parade.  Its starts at the Mansion House in central London from 1.30pm.

The parade of 21 floats will pass St Paul’s Cathedral and Trafalgar Square, where there’ll be a big screen at the base of Nelson’s Column along with live commentary. Each float will carry around 40 athletes arranged by sport. The parade is expected to take up to 13 minutes to pass any given point.

If you are going we would love to see some pictures.

Hot Weather Predicted for Weekend across England

Much of England is poised to be sun-soaked this weekend according to the weather forecasts so why not book a last-minute weekend break or short break in a cottage, apartment or holiday flat to make the most of the last days of summer.

It can hardly come as a surprise that the minute the school holidays are over the weather takes a turn for the better, it’s the frustrating British weather we all know and love.  However, if you still have some holiday left or just want to take advantage of this exceptionally warm weekend then it is worth checking out our September holiday self catering cottages, many available at some excellent prices.

The best of the weather appears to be in the south-east of England and the Eastern side of the country particularly on Sunday.  But pretty much all of England will see plenty of Sunshine this weekend.

Sadly for Scotland and parts of Wales things don’t look quite so bright but the temperatures look good (and who can trust weather forecasts anyway?).

You are in for a great holiday in England this weekend whether you head to a country cottage or a coastal get-away.  If you are heading to the South West of England it is a great time to dig out the body boards and surf boards as there tends to be good waves at this time of year and, if not, there is plenty of time to lay on the golden sandy beach!

We are also pleased that the good weather will last over the last few days of the London 2012 Paralympic Games including the closing ceremony, so hopefully no need for the umbrellas!

If you aren’t able to get away this weekend the good news is that you should be able to enjoy a spot of sunshine in the garden.

Olympic Sailing Cottage Breaks – Weymouth, Portland, Dorset

It’s only 6 weeks to go until the Olympic Sailing regatta starts in Weymouth and Portland in Dorset.  The first events begin on the 29th July and with the British boats expected to perform well in all classes the excitement is starting to build.  What’s more the Olympic sailing is followed shortly after by the Paralympic sailing event in the first week of September.

So this is the perfect time to plan a weekend break, short break or holiday in Dorset to soak up the Olympic excitement and to be able to see first hand a wonderful sporting occasion. You may not have tickets to the Olympic stands but there will be views of the racing from various coastal spots on the Dorset coast and there are sure to be lots of Olympics events running throughout the regattas.
