Cheap Family Easter Holidays – book now for choice of best cottages and apartments

School half term may just be over but it’s not long now until the Easter Break and so if you are planning a cottage get-away you need to finalise your booking now.

Easter breaksEaster falls early this year, at the end of March, and so it’s already barely a month away.  And, with 2 Bank Holidays in England it’s a great time to take an extended break with the family – especially as the weather should be entering the warmer and brighter spring!

If you haven’t got anything planned for the Easter break, there is still time, but you need to get a move on to have the best choice.  We have put together a selection of super family cottages and apartments for the Easter holidays.  These include houses with gardens for the perfect Easter egg hunt to pet friendly self catering so that you don’t have to leave your dog behind.

You can also choose from great locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland including holiday favourites such as the Cotswolds, New Forest, Pembrokeshire, Norfolk Broads, West Country, Peak District, Northumberland Coast, Snowdonia and the Cairngorms… to name just a few!

As the weather at Easter is a little less predictable, holiday lodges, log cabins and mobile homes offer some good quality family accommodation often with plenty of entertainment on site (which is handy on those wet days!).

Beat the January Blues

January cottage breaks

The better our Christmas and New Year celebrations are, the harder we fall for the January blues.

New Year it might be, but everything takes on a slightly bleaker look.  It’s not surprising really, one minute you are surrounded by family and friends, eat and drinking to excess and in general having a great time, the next you are confronted by an empty home devoid of decorations with the winter weather ding its utmost to put you off putting a foot outside.

So, if that is how your January usually pans out and you want a change, then it’s time to get something in the diary that will cheer you up through those first few cold days.

Now when it comes to something positive to look forward to what can be better than a holiday or short break?  Now, agreed, it can be chilly in January but that certainly doesn’t mean all the fun has to stop.  In fact, there is something more romantic about cuddling up in front of an open fire or sharing a hot tub with someone special and where better to do that than a luxury apartment, cottage or log cabin?  Or how about a family January get-away on the British coast or in the countryside to blow away those New Year cobwebs.

If you are wondering where to head, well the countryside and coastal regions of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland all offer dramatic and beautiful scenery that is worth exploring.  However, it’s also a great time to go to some of those hugely popular holiday destinations in the UK and Ireland because you get the chance to explore without so many tourists!

So how about Cornwall, Devon and the Cotswolds in the South West, the Lake District in the North West, Yorkshire Dales and Peak District in the North, the New Forest in the south east, Northumberland in the North East, Norfolk Broads in the east, Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia in Wales and the Highlands and Cairngorms in Scotland… to name but a few.

Or is that too much choice?  Take a look at our selection of January cottages and apartments for some more ideas.

First Day of School, Must be Time to Plan the October Half-Term Break

The summer holidays have barely ended, it’s the first day at school for many, and yet our thoughts are already turning towards the October half term.

It’s not as mad as you may think as with most half-terms being 6 weeks long that means the October half term is rapidly approaching.  It’s also one of those tricky half terms because the weather can be highly unpredictable which is never a good thing if you are confined to the house with the family for a long period.

A self catering cottage or apartment are ideal during the October school half-term as they guarantee warmth and comfort at the end of a day exploring, playing and having fun. The availability and prices are also better for a family at this time of year, once the high season has passed, so you can get some great deals whatever the size of your family.  Although October can be chilly its quite often fairly dry so you are able to get out and about during the day and with lots of self catering in the country, near the coast or close to some of the UK wonderful towns and cities you will not be short of things to do and see.

A great alternative to a cottage or apartment, and a little bit cheaper still, is a holiday lodge, log cabin, chalet or static caravan.  You will find that they do have heating for those chilly nights and are a perfect base for exploring the great outdoors. You will often find these lodges and caravans on holiday parks which is perfect during the half term as most tend to run activities to keep children entertained whatever the weather – nothing better than letting someone else wear them out a bit!

So where to head?  Well there are great locations across the UK and Ireland to choose from but favourites at this time of year for us have been the New Forest (Hampshire), Oxfordshire, Brecon Beacons and the Yorkshire Dales.  Although it has to be said we are tempted by the Scottish Borders as well this year.

Wherever you intend to go there is just 6 weeks left to book so click here if you are looking for some ideas for the October school half-term
